Dress For Shirley and Theodora

A friend at work gave me the ‘It’s a Girl’ cards to make the dress. Her daughter can be a bit of a ‘tear-away’ so she thought it would be nice if something sweet and pretty was made from all of those hopes and wishes given at her birth, to reflect the sweetness she hides underneath the troubles. These lovely old cards are mixed with a vintage childrens' illustrated book (which name I do not have but will try to find). All are to fit 5 year old Shirley and Theodora (Dicephalic Parapagus Twins), although it may be a little scratchy.

The inside of the dress is the story from the greetings and poetry from the cards and some more story.

Paperdolls by Kate Rice

This is the most gorgeous jumper I've ever seen. And anything I didn't know, I do now thanks to Youtube. Any tutorial at all is there. Good O! I tried to reinvent the design to use my girls, but seriously, Kate's version is so clean and right, I won't change a thing. Excepting the colours. While I think of it, go have a look at the other versions everyone has done (at Ravelry).

Max

I thought I'd posted this picture ages ago, but if I did it's outdone my patience in looking for it again. Max is either Myrtle, Abigail or Bronwyn Bunny if they'd turned out... well, if they'd split completely as twins. As in, without becoming any kind of twin. I don't like to say 'if they turned out right'. Who am I to judge?
Pattern is Myrtle without the extra legs, or Bronny & Abby with only one head. Available at my Etsy shop.

Working Drawings For New Rugs

I originally thought to do a tea cosy, but a rug is better.
These are cowgirls. I've done the whole pic, this is just a detail.

I will not allow myself to begin these until a few other things are out of the way. I don't mean 'out of the way' as if they were bothersome, because it's all just so much fun you can't imagine! I love doing all of this stuff. Lerve it. I can't WAIT to get to these though... won't be long. I have to have train trip projects you see.

I'm very happy if you want to use the patterns, really really happy, but of course they're for personal use only... you know the drill.

Back To Work On The Rabbit's Cubby, Yipee!

I've been a bit unwell. That old girl's disease: Graves Disease, which sounds way more impressive than just saying a boring overactive Thyriod. Good way to shift those stubborn kilo's. Whoo Hoo! Almost back to normal now and the only reason I mention it is that I'm suddenly frantic to resume my frantic stitching pace. BUSTING! Seems like the last 6 months have an ample excuse now (for apparent laziness and lack of motivation that is).

Back to The Rabbit's Cubby. Yay!

The time off has given me perspective on a few things. Design things I mean. I've been getting the pieces to an almost finished point (maybe ten or more so far), not being sure how I want to bring it all together but neither am I worrying about how just yet... I prefer to let things buzz around in my head until the 'abstract' idea takes form... and I think it has. The lace pieces are a happening thing in my mind, and that's good too! It's all good!
I want to stitch my little fingers to the bone as I've always done, as fast as I can.

It delights me so much I can hardly bear it. I'd be terribly easy to satisfy on a desert island or er... ah.. in poverty. Just a scrap of paper, fabric and a reel of cotton. In fact, with the lace you only need thread! And paper and maybe a scrap of contact to keep it all in place. Oh yes and a needle. Probably a pencil. And my glasses and I'd have to take the children and of course the grandchildren. And my light.

So just to remind you and myself... here are the pictures again.
